This is Discovery Bay, California.  It is a planned water community at the lower edge of the California Delta.  It is located 20 miles due West of Stockton, California, along State Highway 4.  Most of the homes sit on "deep water", with docks for a back yard.  The rest of the homes have a landlocked lake, or the Discovery Bay Country Club golf course for back yards.  "Deep water", in local parlance, means that it is possible to boat from the back yard, through the Delta, and into San Francisco Bay and to the Pacific Ocean.
